What people love
Telangana offers a captivating blend of rich heritage and modern attractions. History enthusiasts will be mesmerized by magnificent forts, palaces, and UNESCO-listed Kakatiya temples. The state is a culinary heavyweight, offering world-famous Hyderabadi biryani and deeply flavorful regional dishes. Hyderabad provides excellent infrastructure, luxury accommodations, and a vibrant shopping scene ranging from historic pearl markets to massive modern malls. Beyond the city, travelers can discover serene lakes, cascading waterfalls, and unique cultural festivals like Bathukamma, all accompanied by the warm and welcoming hospitality of the local people.
What to know
The primary drawback of visiting Telangana is the extreme summer heat, with temperatures frequently soaring above 40°C (104°F) between April and June, making outdoor exploration highly uncomfortable. The monsoon season (July to September) brings heavy rains that can cause waterlogging and disrupt travel plans. Outside of Hyderabad, tourism infrastructure, luxury accommodations, and public transport options are relatively limited. Additionally, while English and Hindi are widely understood in the capital, travelers may face a language barrier in rural areas where only Telugu is spoken. Traffic congestion in Hyderabad can also be overwhelming.
